A tranquil courtyard garden
This courtyard garden sits behind a mews style home where a new glazed extension opened onto tall boundary walls and an L shaped alley leading into a slightly larger courtyard space. The aim was to soften what was previously a dark and enclosed outlook while creating a calm garden connected to the house.
A living wall introduced planting at eye level, bringing greenery into view from inside the home and softening the surrounding walls. A large mirror was positioned to reflect light and foliage back into the space, helping the garden feel brighter and visually larger than its footprint.
The layout now supports everyday outdoor living, with the courtyard functioning as a comfortable alfresco dining space and natural extension of the interior.
The result is a quiet, intimate garden that feels settled and usable despite its size and limited sunlight.
